It's Friday, Friday~ That means another Wholesale7 picks of the week!

Yet again, Wholesale7 has been dishing out good stuff. Here is a roundup of my week's favourite pieces from their new arrivals. The pieces I chose here would be great for the upcoming spring season, with lots of chiffon, lace, and statement collars!

OM NOMS: Flo Tea Room Toast Boxes Galore!

Last week, my friend Karra posted a preview photo of this toast box on her twitter, I was DETERMINED to get my hands on one.

Turns out, I got my hands on 5 of them!~

Flo Tea Room was having a Valentine's Day special that ran from February 10th to 19th, featuring toast box combos for under $15.00. The combos came with one giant toast box of your choice, and 2 bubble tea drinks- perfect for a dessert date! Also, throughout the promotion, they gave out stamp cards where if you try all 4 flavours of toast boxes you get the 5th one free!

I had the luck of going with a whole bunch of my friends each time so we got to try more than one toast box at a time :) So no, I didn't eat all of these by myself!!

All the toast boxes were delicious! This is really my kind of dessert because it wasn't too sweet at all. I can't handle desserts that are too rich and sugary (ie. fudge). Most of the sweetness on these toast boxes came from the ice cream on top and some powdered sugar on the columns of toast on the inside. The toast box crust was crunchy all the way around- that was probably my favourite part.

I'm a huge fan of green tea ice cream and red bean desserts, so my favourite was the Matcha & Red Bean toast box. On top were two scoops of matcha green tea ice cream, and underneath was a spread of red bean all over the top portion of toast. To top it off were some wafer sticks, strawberries and oreo cookies!

Nommers Beware: These toast boxes are super filling! I can share one between 4 people for dessert after an average sized meal. Don't even attempt this if you're full!

Though the combo promotion is over, I believe the Original toast box is a permanent addition to their menu. The regular price is $7.50, which is the cheapest I've seen in Vancouver, compared to What8ver Cafe ($9) and 0755 Lounge ($10).

What! More Red? J Brand Twill Skinnies

I promised you I'd show you the new red pieces in my wardrobe yesterday, so here's the second item! J Brand Red Twill Skinnies! These aren't really new per se... they actually used to be Emi's - but they're mine now! They were a bit too big for her but they're perfect for my butt!

I wore this outfit out to Matsuyama for dinner with Ricky the other day. He dropped me off to get a table first while he went to look for a parking spot, so I went to the host and asked for a seat for 2. The usual host nodded and said, "Okay, 2". However...

But I just played on my phone until Ricky came into the restaurant. I told him that the host didn't ask for my name, so Ricky peeked over at the list and saw... "TALL GIRL IN RED PANTS [for] 2". We laughed so hard! The host was so surprised and embarrassed at the same time :)

Way to stand out eh? Hahaha.

New Favourite: Red Blazer

Remember my fear of red clothing a few months back? I literally could count the amount of red-coloured pieces in my closet on one hand. I'm slowly getting more comfortable with wearing this attention-grabbing colour, so much so that I recently added 2 new red pieces to my wardrobe. This blazer was one of them.

The blazer is clean of distraction, and has a streamlined silhouette. The sleeves on a size SMALL are long enough for my arms (*gasp!) and the shoulders are a good width. The entire inside has matching lining except for the sleeves, which has a cute white contrasting striped lining which pops out when the sleeves are rolled. There are also 2 side slit pockets and a breast pocket, which may come in handy at work to keep my keycard. Who knew Suzy Shier could make such a quality blazer? On top of that, it was only $35 RETAIL. You can even use your SPC card in store, which takes off an additional 10%, essentially saving you tax.

The other thing I like about this blazer is that it's the perfect red. It's primary colour crayon red, not too yellow and not too orange. That exactly why I paired it with my blue leather shorts. It's also a primary colour crayon blue, so I know they'll match perfectly. All I'm missing is some yellow and I could go in a crayon box!

If I button it up, it's a tiny bit big at the waist. But that's no biggie, because my seamstress (aka mum) can take in the sides like she does for most of my clothing. Thank goodness for mums! For now, I'm not too antsy about it so it can probably wait until later.

But other than that, I'm super happy about this blazer. After scouring Zara, H&M, F21 and Aritzia for similar ones, I'm elated that I stumbled upon this lil gem the first time I stepped in Suzy Shier in years. :)

Lobster Pink and Bright Teal

Who said pastel colours don't work with bright colours? Without anything else on, this XL Old Navy sweater already swallows me whole! Therefore, I really wanted to wear some super bright shorts to counteract the sheer amount of fabric this sweater had. It also gives a nice peekaboo if I don't tuck in the sweater which makes it super cute when you're walking~

I didn't know what jacket I wanted to wear at first, but I was pretty set on a leather jacket. To my surprise, this lobster Muubaa leather jacket totally worked! I'm thinking it's so pale that it almost acts as a neutral tone, so funny enough the lobster and teal complemented each other.

The only thing about wearing bright shorts is that it draws attention to your crotch, lol. But otherwise, I really like using shorts as my peekaboo of colour :) Make sure that if you are wearing a bright piece, pair it with neutral colours so it doesn't overwhelm the outfit.

AG Ivory Velvet Leggings

I debut'd my new - and first ever - pair of AGs (Adriano Goldschmied) on Valentine's Day! They are the softest things ever, and they really feel like you're wearing... nothin' at all! (...nothin' at all! ...nothin' at all! *echos), When I first got them in the mail, I took them out of the packaging and they looked so tiny a 3 year old could wear them. Fear not! They are made out of the stretchiest material, and fit true to size. I got a 25, my usual size, for reference.

I was originally going to pair it with my hot pink beater in the spirit of V-day, but as luck would have it, it was no wear to be found. And that was my only hot pink top that wasn't a bra, lol. So, I gave up being festive and opted for my teal bustier tank instead, from Aritzia's recent You Snooze You Lose sale.

A Sweet Valentine's Day

I had a great little evening with Ricky last night. He was the sweetest, surprising me with a heart-shaped balloon, mini cakes and macaroons from Thomas Haas, and a small gift of the magnetic nail polish I wanted :3 Such a charmer!

He deserves a kiss doesn't he? :D

Happy Monday! Hope your weekend is off to a good start.

Valentine's day is tomorrow! What do you guys have planned for this wonderful day of propoganda? Haha.
For me, everything is pretty up in the air. I don't have much on my mind these days except for food (queue Flo's Honey Toast Box yum~). Man, I'm just like Simon's Cat, haha.

Here's a simple outfit I wore this weekend... twice. Who said you can't wear the same outfit more than once? I just make it a rule that I don't see the same people when I wear the same outfit more than once over the same weekend. This outfit was dressed-up enough to go to a nice dinner with the family, but also dressed-down enough for just a casual night out with the boyfriend. Versatility at its best!

World Music Fashion Festival Launch Party Featuring OR by Angela Chen

Though I haven't posted in a while (*gasp) I'm back with a fun-filled, eventful post! This past Friday I had the opportunity to go to the 2011 World Music Fashion Festival Launch Party with my girls Kerri, Emi, Jordana and Karra, and our plus ones.

The 2011 World Music Fashion Festival is a showcase for musicians and fashion designers from Canada, Europe and the United States. The event provides a platform for western talent to develop connections with the Chinese music and fashion industry and gain international brand exposure, starting with their tour in Shanghai. This event was only made possible by Empress Communications, a PR and event management firm that acts as a bridge for companies wishing to enter the Chinese and Canadian market.

The launch party coincided with the grand opening of 0755 Restaurant & Lounge, and featured a fashion show exhibiting clothing pieces from OR by Angela Chen. The fashion show was the main reason I was there, but the free appetizers and drinks also helped ;)

We had to wait quite a while for the fashion show to start, but when the models came out, I was absolutely smitten with the OR line. Angela Chen did good. Her Fall 2011 line was filled with a mix of tulle and crochet, and I could see myself in every single piece of her collection.

I wasn't able to get many good photos, so here are some of same pieces we saw from Angela Chen's website. You can also see some snapshots on Emi's post.

Some pieces on the OR by Angela Chen website are 70% off now, so rest assured I'm going to be checking that out ;)

After the show, we headed out to eat and sing our hearts out, as seen on Emi's post once again. I'm probably going to go the same restaurant again since Valentine's day is just around the corner!

It's safe to say that this weekend rocked. Great company, great event, great fun :)

Double Breasted Blazer & Colourful Denim

Everytime I wear this blazer it reminds me of naval uniforms. You know what I mean? All I'm missing is a sailor cap and I'm all set. Think SNSD anyone? Perhaps it's all the buttons and the angled cut of the front. The pockets are also angled downwards that gives a nice spin off the traditional blazer.

Wearing a simple white v-neck t-shirt underneath, even Ricky would approve since he's the official cheerleader for all things v-neck! Pretty sure he loves them with a passion. More than me. *gasp! To counter the monotone colour scheme on top, I wore my vintage green J Brand leggings to give it a magical pop of colour.

All in all, this outfit can totally be replicated with colour substitution.

I could swap out my green J Brand's for my blue ones (here), and switch my black blazer for my grey one and you'd have an entirely different outfit (here)! I'm pretty big on the colourful denim trend; as you've seen here, I have a pair of green ones, blue ones and aubergine ones, all by J Brand. I have my eye on a pair of engine red ones and bright blue ones still on my wishlist since those Old Navy ones didn't work out for me.

Arrrr... Pirate Blouse

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend.

After reluctantly dragging myself out of bed this morning, I opened my closet and the first thing that I saw was my J Brand pencil skinnies in Palette. I figured, hmm why not? I haven't worn them in forever. Then I grabbed it thinking, what top? Which is when I spied my pirate blouse! It's not really called a pirate blouse, but I always call it that because it looks like what pirate's wear in cartoons, mostly due to the balloony sleeves :) So I turned out to be some sort of Pirate / Painter mix.

Every time I wear my fur vest to work someone always comments on it. Today, it was "Did you go hunting this weekend?" *facepalm* Pft, engineers, what do they know!

OM NOMS: Sushi Oyama

Did I tell you one of my favourite things to do is eat? One of my favourite cuisines of all time is Japanese. I find that whenever I go out to eat it's usually Japanese food in one way or another. Last week, I took my lover to Sushi Oyama on Kingsway. It's really one of the best places I've been to for delicious Japanese food, despite the chefs being Korean- though that's a pretty common occurrence here in Vancouver.

As usual, we ordered a lot because we both eat like monsters :)

Of course, we had to have a sashimi platter. My favourite sashimi of all time is wild sockeye salmon. This platter came with: salmon, tuna, tai, hokkigai, amaebi, and tako, but I substituted the tako with salmon because I wanted more salmon! This one was moderately priced at $16.90 for 18 pieces.

Ricky loves oysters (a little too much) so he got himself a half order of fresh oysters with marinara sauce. Usually he likes to put tabasco on them for an extra kick. I'm not a big fan of oysters though so those are on his side only ;) The oysters were $5.99 for 5.

On my side we have prawn & yam tempura and miso soup. The tempura at Sushi Oyama is the best I've had in Vancouver. There's just enough batter to cover the prawn or veggie, and it's fried to the perfect crispiness. You won't find big chunks of batter here. Less is more! The price was more on the high side: $8.25 for 8 pieces (4 of each).

Miso is also one of my guilty pleasures. I love miso soup. However, it's one of those things that are inconsistent across restaurants; I find a lot of places make it too salty, or use that dehydrated tofu crap. Not at Sushi Oyama! They use real tofu and tofu skin in their miso soup and it's perfectly salted. I always get miso no matter what the price because I like it so much. Here it was $1.25 per bowl. Almost double a lot of other restaurants.

Unagi don is also one of my favourite dishes. The unagi here is seasoned beautifully and not too sweet. It has great texture and they definitely don't skimp on the unagi! This bowl itself can definitely fill you up for lunch- and for $10.50, the typical price for unagi don, it's really not so bad.

I did have a bad run-in with unagi here once before when they made the sauce too sour, but I notified the waitress and she quickly brought me a new one. For my inconvenience, she gifted me with extra sashimi :) I thought that was a nice touch and I did get my don on in the end.

Ah, the Las Vegas roll. Epicness in maki form: Composed of spicy salmon, cream cheese, cucumber and crab meat, deep fried, and sprinkled with bonito flakes and masago. It's crispy on the outside with a kick on the inside. Highly recommend. The roll came in 8 giant pieces and it was $8.90.

Ricky looks surprisingly calm (if you know him you'd know he never is) despite the great food that awaits him. Or maybe it's his poker face?

Although we did rack up quite the bill here, the food was delicious. I can never resist good Japanese food, so I will be back to Sushi Oyama soon enough for more. I would definitely recommend it.

Popcorn At The Movies

Yesterday I got the chance to watch This Means War (starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, and Tom Hardy) two weeks before its in theatres, courtesy of Niki from A Haute Mess! The movie plot was pretty simple: two spies using their spy tactics to win over the same girl. It had action, comedy and romance- can't get better than that! I really enjoyed it and it made me laugh out loud so many times throughout the showing. It was especially awesome recognizing all the places in the movie because it was filmed in Vancouver! Were any of you guys there? Did you catch the Balenciaga bag that Chelsea Handler (Trish) was carrying?

I thought it was only appropriate to wear my Popcorn knit sweater from Old Navy that a purchased a week ago. I called customer service and mentioned there was a snag in it, but also noticed the price went down online. The friendly sales agent quickly gave me a price adjustment and an extra 10% off for the snag, and sent me a new one so this baby was only $8!

The sweater feels nice and soft, and is cropped at a nice length on me so it's not too short and not too long. The colour (sawdust) is very neutral so I can pretty much wear it with anything!

The bag is by The Sak. It's one of my favourite bags of all time. It has the softest, squishiest, and thickest leather you can ever come by, and has a very modest price for a bag of such quality. IMO, the leather is better than MBMJ bags and that says a lot because I really like MBMJ leather. The Sak is definitely an underrated brand that has some great stuff.

This one, the Silverlake satchel, is especially nice because it can be used both as a shoulder bag and a hand bag. I mostly use it over the shoulder but it's nice to be able to change it up once in a while. I'm also thinking of make a custom strap for it so I can use it as a cross-body bag too.

I flipped the collar from the tunic up and over the neckline of the sweater. Normally, it looks like this, kinda flappy-ish, but I pinned them down so they wouldn't move. I think it's cute that way! It's like those faux collars that have been everywhere lately.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun watching This Means War. It was a very enjoyable flick so definitely check it out!~

Cha Cha Cha...Chambray :)

I was in the lunch room at work this week and one of my male coworkers showed up wearing a chambray shirt. I jumped for joy inside! You don't find many engineers that are trendy and chic, so it's a pleasant surprise seeing him in nice outfits everyday! I definitely need him to guest star in some of my photos sometime so you guys can see! So, because of his shirt, I wore my chambray genie pants out to play today :)

On a side note: Would you wear clogs? There was a period of clogginess back in Fall of last year and I always thought they were horrendous. Blue Lavender and BUTTON Rant

This morning, as I was taking my blue lavender blazer out of the closet, I heard a few things drop onto the ground. I thought it came out of my blazer pocket, because I tend to leave things in my pockets and rediscover them years later (money!). But, checking my pockets, there was nothing there. Then I looked on my floor. There they were. Little tiny pieces of buttons from the (now lack of) buttons on my blazer sleeve. What the hell! I thought. This was the third time!! What a bad start to Monday.

You give me a single extra button... But it's for the front which is a DIFFERENT SIZE! And I need two, not one! *face palm*

I have two other blazers from Aritzia where the exact same thing happened. My grey wool one from Talula Babaton (seen here and here) also had 'crumbling-button syndrome'. The buttons on the left sleeve are missing some pieces, so I always keep it rolled up now. And this is the higher end TB line! Not even my favourite $15 Suzy Shier blazer of 7 years has ever had a missing nor broken button.

OM NOMS: Dine Out Vancouver 2012

This past week I had the chance to go to two restaurants as part of the Dine Out Vancouver Festival. I went to Five Sails (inside the Pan Pacific Hotel) with Kerri and Sheila, and Chambar with my coworkers.

Five Sails was great- the portions were a little small, but overall, every course was quite delicious and satisfying. I chose the Lobster Bisque to start, followed by the Grilled "Prime" New York steak and the Pavlova for dessert. The restaurant also treated us with a shrimp salad cocktail and little chocolate cubes before and after our 3-course meal. I also ran into an old high school friend working at the restaurant, which was a nice surprise! Shoutout the Laura :) ~

Chambar is a Belgian restaurant who has a huge love of extreme ambient lighting, lol. It was so dark in there I could barely tell what I was eating. So sorry for the dim pictures- the flash made it even worse. I also forgot to take a picture of my first course.

For my dinner, I chose the chevreuil carpaccio to start, the tomato soup mussels + fries, and the toasted meringue with cream cheese ice cream for dessert. Rest assured- the food was also very good (especially the cream cheese ice cream) despite not being about to see it, though the mussels could have been less salty.

This is all they had for lighting. A candle per table. haha.

Just Another Bow Blouse. No Biggie.

Blouses. Bows. Chiffon. All that girly stuff.

I've been really into that lately and been neglecting my jeans. Why? I don't know. Maybe I'm getting older? Nah, that's not it. Sometimes I feel jeans are too casual nowadays, and not classy enough. But then again, neither are leggings and I wear them all the time. Any way, moving on to the outfit I wore to Dine Out at Chambar with my coworkers~

Vintage1 Moto Jeans

It seems like I haven't worn jeans in forever... and when I looked at my denim this morning, I instinctively chose these moto ones because they are one of my favourites. Moto jeans were really popular back in 2010, and I have 3 pairs in my premium denim collection. There are noticeable stitch lines across the knees and to the back of the knee to emulate the pants and jackets bikers wear. I love this detailing, as well as the zips on the inside of the ankle. Styling these moto jeans with the MCQ skull scarf really brings out the Hell's Angel in me, haha ;)

To Alter or Not to Alter? Old Navy Rockstar Jeggings Review

Old Navy had a 25% off coupon last week so I decided those Old Navy Rockstar Jeggings that all these bloggers are talking about. Andrea from Little Miss Andrea recently got a pair so I figured I'd try them out.

Unlike the 5 feet tall petite ladies that have been raving about these, I'm a good 8 inches taller at 5'8". After reading the reviews on the Old Navy website saying that the regular version is too short and that the coloured ones fit small, I decided to get the Tall version in a size 2 and 4 instead of my usually 0.

This one was too big. Should've known. The only place it fits is my bum (like usual), it sags at my thighs, and it's a little roomy at the waist. The inseam for the Tall version is supposed to be 36", but these are only a mere 33". It's doable, but not as long as my / favourite / J brands. However, I do like the colour a lot.

Saucy Red Rockstar Jeggings in Size 4 Tall
I really wanted this colour but it didn't have anything smaller than a 4. Nonetheless, the difference between size 2 and 4 was very minor. Still, almost the same fit as a size 2 but also, the crotch was too baggy. Like the blue ones, the inseam for this one was also 33".

Anyway, I also got 2 sweaters just for fun:

Tranquil Teal Cable-Knit Sweater in XS
The length of the sleeves is just right, but it is kinda weirdly cut around the shoulders. Always feels like it wants to sag around that area. I'd also prefer my sweater to be a little but longer, but overall it is comfy. I'm probably going to return this.

Sawdust Cropped Popcorn-Knit Sweater in XS
I really like this one. It's soft, comfortable, and just the right length. The colour is really nice and I'm a big fan of cropped tops. The only disappointment was that it had a snag at the back :( I'm going to exchange this for another one without a snag.

So, back to the Rockstar Jeggings.

Problem: There are no more size 0's left on the Old Navy website, and the Tall version is not available in stores- only online. Should I get them altered to fit? Do you think they'll fit as well as my J brand's above (more / pics / here / here / here) if I DO alter them?

Gung Hei Fat Choy everyone! I wish everyone a year full of luck and prosperous shopping :)

It's the year of the Dragon this year, which is extra special because I was born in the year of the Dragon! As a Chinese custom, you're supposed to wear RED for celebrations and happy times. I love it when there are festive occasions because it governs the colour I'm going to wear, giving me a fashion challenge inside my head. Red isn't a colour I usually wear- I think I only have 3 pieces of red clothing (mittens, a scarf, this shirt)- so this holiday pushes my fashion senses out of my comfort zone.

This outfit is essentially pretty simple. One of my recent additions to my wardrobe is this red top from Zara from my last haul. Paired with my favourite J brand black pants, and completed with my fur vest I can't live without and have worn way too much this season.

My Kisslock Story

I actually have quite the history with kisslock bags. 5 years ago, I was on the bus, and I noticed this girl get onto the bus with a GIANT kisslock shoulder bag. I fell in love. I was way in the back of one of those long accordian buses, and she was all the way in the front. Figures, right? I was determined to find out where she had gotten that bag, so I got up and walked up to her and nonchalantly told her I love her bag. When I asked her where she got it, the answer I most feared came out of her lips, "I got it in Hong Kong".

Nuuuuuuuuuuu!~, I screamed inside. I was devastated. I thanked her and slumped back to my loner seat at the back of the bus and sulked. This always happens to me- when I ask people where they got something, it's always somewhere foreign and unattainable.

The next 5 years, I've been looking left, right, and centre for a kisslock bag like the one she had. I still haven't found one just like it yet, but this one from Wholesale7 came pretty close.

For the entire oufit, I based my look on one of my favourite colour combos: teal and brown. For some reason, I think they look so good together :) As you can see, I also mixed different mediums in this ensemble: a polyester shirt, a cotton & satin vest, a silk chiffon scarf, leather boots, a pvc belt & bag... Usually PVC isn't my material of choice, but today, this kisslock bag is my favourite.

This kisslock bag comes with detachables straps in 2 different lengths- one for cross body and one for satchel. What's great is you can remove all the straps so that this bag doubles as a cute clutch! Also, it may look a bit flat and small, but this bag actually halds quite a bit of stuff. Everything I shove into my Balenciaga City I can easily fit into here. Inception!?

Besides the utilitarian point of view, I also like the design on the kisslock clasp. It has a wonderfully viney & flowery design that looks very intricate. The edges have pleats that can be expanded and puffy looking, which gives the bag less of a structured shape, which I like.

After 5 years of searching, I'm momentarily satisfied with this find.

Posing Tips and an Old Outfit

I'd like to share a little bit of my past with you guys :) Even before I started blogging, I was taking outfit pictures and posting them onto forums, or xanga or just my facebook. Here's one of them from way back in 2010, featuring my J Brand Houlihan cargos!

Little did you know, my hair is naturally this straight! In my recent photos, my hair is a bit wavy at the ends. But that's because I digitally permed my hair last year and since lost most of its curl, so what's left is the wavy ends. Also, my hair may look like dyed in this photo, but it's really not :) My hair is naturally brown and gets lighter in the summer~

Pretty unimaginative poses AMIRITE? Haha. I think I've definitely improved since then. Over the course of the past few months, taking outfit picture after outfit picture, I've learned so many do's and don't's of posing:

Slighten turn your body 30 degrees. Standing straight on towards the camera will flatten you out. The 30-tilt also applies for your face!
Stand with one leg off-pressure and slightly bent to look more natural. Otherwise you can look too robotic with your arms and legs too straight.
Try to think of something happy while posing so that your lips will give off a natural smile. Smiling too hard can come off fake, or show too much gum.
Breathe in while you take pictures. This will lock your joints in and make you look more fierce!
Relax your mouth and leave it slightly gaping. This gives off a sexy vibe in pictures.
If you're not having a good face day, take pictures with your eyes down or off to the side. This can give you a sensual look and take the focus off your face.
For face pictures, take pictures from at the same angle as your face. If you take it from a lower angle, it can enlarge your jaw or chin. If you take it from the top, it can make your eyes look strained or zombiefied.

These are just my tips that I've learned from trial and error.

LAROK Military Vest

Took my military-inspired vest for a spin yesterday :) I've always been a fan of the army-chic looks like cargo skinnies (here), cargo jackets (here), and vintage olive coloured pants (here and here). It gives off that sexy but tough vibe, which you all know I like from seeing all my oufit posts! Thus, it's natural that I was drawn to this Cadet vest made by LAROK while speed-browsing DJ Premium during their Cyber Monday Sale.

Anyone notice my sleeve was up on one arm but not the other? Haha. Silly me, I didn't realize until after but I'm not OCD or anything so it doesn't bother me. I'm sure it bothers some of you! :)

Anyway, this vest is made of a stiff cotton that really holds its shape. I like the fit, except the waist is abnormally high. It may not look like it, but the waist belt is actually on my rib cage in these photos. This vest probably wasn't made for people with longer torsos. It needs to be a good 1.5-2 inches lower, where my actual waist is. But that's not a problem because I can easily alter the belt loops.

Now get this: those flap pockets? YAH THEY'RE FAKE. Ugh, I didn't know this before I bought it. I had considered it, but seeing as this vest retailed around $238, I thought, Okay, it's that expensive so there's no way they would skimp on the pockets. But I was SO WRONG! I got this vest for uber cheap compared to the retail ($30) so I can't really complain, but I was still disappointed that they faked me out! (see what I did there? ^___^)

Besides the abnormally high waist and the faux pockets, I really like the design of the vest. It has cute military-esque embellishments like the studs and the brooch-badge, as well as the grommetted belt around the waist. I particularly like that there is a hole at the side. Makes it more girly, I think.

Overall, since I got this vest on uber-sale, I can justify the alterations and faux pockets. But at $238 retail?
Hell no.

School Girl Cardigan

Remember last year when school boy cardigans were so in? Well I never ever thought of jumping into that fad because 1) I wore the same one as part of my high school uniform everyday, and 2) I had one already so I didn't need to go and buy a 'mock' one.

The trend has since died so I decided to finally wear mine out! My old high school cardigan that is. Usually people hate their uniforms in high school, but I for one really like the school girl look. Maybe it's because I watch too much Japanese anime.

Anyway, this cardigan features a white base and maroon accents (our school colours), has my graduation year on my left arm and my name on my right arm. The school name is monogrammed on the left where a breast pocket would be if it existed, lol. I guess for my readers in Vancouver, now you know what high school I went to, lol.

Too Sexy?

I went over to my boyfriend's house this weekend dressed like this. Not too different from my normal attire. But I knew something was odd when his parents started whispering and motioned for my bf to go into the kitchen, where they quietly mumbled some stuff in Chinese. Strange, I thought, because usually they talk quite loud. But I didn't think much of it and went back to watching Iron Man...

Good thing my bf doesn't actually have a problem with me wearing suspender tights! Clearly, because he took these pictures for me :) :)

NuBra Review

I received my NuBra last week and I finally got a chance to do a review this weekend! As a reference, my bra size is 30A. However, the NuBra is made for people with band sizes 32-36, and according to bra size conversions, to get an equivalent size in a different cup you must increase your band size and decrease your cup size. Thus, a 30A is equivalent to a 32AA so I purchased the NuBra 'Super Padded' in AA.

OK! Now that we're done with all that mumbo-jumbo, I'll keep this short and sweet for you guys :)

Instructions:

Packaging: Great!
Pretty simple packaging- just a small box which included the NuBra itself in a plastic cradle (doubling as an awesome travel case), cleaning instructions, and other product styles. Nothing too shnazzy- just the way I like it.

Construction: Great!
The NuBra 'Super Padded' is made out of 30% Polyester, 30% Polyurethane Foam, and 40% Silicone Adhesive. Compared to my silicone bra, this one feels like nothing. It really is very light weight, and this colour (mocha) matches my skin tone almost perfectly. Inspecting it closely, I can see no flaws in the adhesive, and both cups are smooth and symmetrical. There is a clip in the middle to keep the cups together.

Stickiness: Good!
The adhesive on the NuBra is quite sticky. It's not as sticky as double-sided 3M industrial tape, but pretty sticky. For best results, you really have to attach them to your boobs in only one or two tries. Otherwise, your skin cells adhere to the adhesive and the bra looses stickiness. It takes about 5 peel-offs for it to lose optimal stickiness, and you have to wash it for it to be sticky again.

Wear: Great!
You really have to practise to see which position looks best on your boobs. Took me about 5 tries to figure out where I should put it, but once you remember, the next time is easy. It stays really well even with a lot of movement. I've jumped, twirled, stretched, did jumping jacks, jiggled upside down, you name it. These bad boys stayed where they're supposed to. It also gives me a fuller look which is a pleasant result. The clip in the middle can definitely help in giving you more cleavage, but it would be better if you already have say, a B cup- for me, I didn't get much cleavage since my breast tissue is already lacking.

Comfort: Great!
I can barely feel the cups on my skin. There is no tightness and no stretching when move around every which way. When I peel them off, it didn't hurt at all, and there was no adhesive residue stuck onto my skin.

Price: Okay~
I've seen the NuBra retail over $90 here in Canada, so at msrp they do not come cheap. However, there are various places online where you can get it for less than half that price! For example, Drugstore.com is selling the featerlite version for only $30! in cupsizes A/B/C/D. Nubra.net (not sure if it's official store) is selling the Super Padded (same as featherlite but more padded, the one that I got) for $39.99 in AA/A/B but I got mine off eBay for $31.95 from this seller (bengc) who has great feedback and reviews. So all in all, if you do your research, this bra is quite affordable.

Overall: I really like it! I would definitely recommend this NuBra 'Super Padded'. It sticks well, looks great and feels like nothing. On top of that, it it makes my boobs look bigger. Now who on the itty bitty titty committee doesn't want that? ;)

Tuxedo Waistcoat & ZARA Haul

GUESS WHAT! This is my 100th post! :) Yay me!

Now, back to your regular scheduled programming...

Couple nights ago I swung by Zara downtown after work to find my beloved crepe wedge shoes. To my dismay, the red beauties were no where to be found, but I ended up leaving zara with a huge bag of goodies instead. As nice as it is to have a shopping buddy, I always seem to shop better alone. More efficient that way. So I left with 2 blouses, a vest, a pair of pants, and a jacket- all for $156 after tax. I thought it was a pretty decent score.

Today's outfit post features 2 of the 5 new additions to my already bulging closet: the black tuxedo vest and the high waisted skinny pants.

These are seriously the most slimming pants ever. They just suck everything in and push up what needs to be pushed up! Reminds me of those TNA supplex pants but not really. They're stretchy denimy material, come in an AWESOMELY long inseam, and the rise goes up to just under my bellybutton. The truest colour of these pants are in the first picture :)

I really like them. For $19.99 you can't go wrong.

The tuxedo vest is really nice. I got it to jazz up some plainer outfits. Here, I'm just wearing a Fluxus burn-out t-shirt (here too!) underneath but I think the vest adds a nice touch. Sorry there isn't a better picture from the front. This one was also $19.99.

Minty Fresh

Super simple outfit today. So simple, yet so minty fresh. When I saw this blouse on Wholesale7, I was instantly drawn to the mint green colour. This pale soft green is so easy on the eyes, and instantly brightens up my mood. When I first put this outfit together, I was originally intending to tuck the blouse into my skirt. After playing around with it for a bit, I decided to tie it on top instead. I really like the result. I didn't put on any accessories either, to keep this look simple.

Can you believe I got this pleated skirt at Nordstrom Rack for $4? I've featured it in another outfit here. I had no idea what the brand is at the time, but for $4 I couldn't pass it up. I looked up the brand last night- Lily White. They don't have an online store, only a lookbook, but Nordstrom does sell this brand. Some of their pieces are very cute! You should check them out :)

You can't tell in this post, but the boots I'm wearing in this outfit definitely need some TLC. I've worn these boots so much that the entire sole on the heel is worn down to the metal and makes that annoying 'click clack' when I walk.

Anyone from Vancouver that can recommend me a good cobbler? I don't want to throw these away because they still have so much wear to them! MY mom would tell me to chuck them... but I'm such a hoarder :P Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you guys :)

Prairie Girl

I couple months ago I got this A-line high waisted skirt at Urban Outfitters. I'm not usually the type to wear long skirts, but for some reason I thought this one was workable. I was drawn in by the brass snap buttons on the waist, the snap buttons on the edges of the skirt hem and the pockets at the front. I was going to keep this strictly as a spring/summer skirt, but I had something else in mind when I woke up yesterday.

In the end, I think I look like I'm from the little house on the prairie that just skinned a fox to make a fur vest lol.

The only bad thing about this skirt is that it's the hardest thing to put on and take off! Stupid proportionally large bum!

On another note, the belt I'm wearing is from H&M which I got on boxing day. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to wear it with the 'dip' flipped up or down, at the back or the front, but I wore it downwards cuz I thought it looked cuter.

Casual Cozy Purple

This was pretty much my uniform when I lived in the nippy East Coast (brrrr... ). I wore this almost everyday in because it's just that comfy and cozy. I literally have 3 of the same tees and 12 of the same tank tops in different colours from the outfit below. When it comes to bone-chilling weather, layers is definitely the key!

Electric Blue Faux-Leather Shorts

Just the other day I was thinking I should get some high waisted shorts. When I went to H&M to return some things, I spotted these electric blue ones! If I'm gonna get some high waited shorts, why not go all out and get some faux-leather electric blue ones? I love that they're so different. I wore the shorts to my friend's party this weekend and a couple people started petting them cuz they're really soft!

For some reason, these shorts fit really small. I'm usually a 4 in H&M bottoms (36" hips), but I had to go up to a size 6 in these. The size 4 was really tight around my bum and nobody likes shorts too tight ;) The size 6 was kinda gapey at the waist, but I fixed that with a simple belt. If you want these shorts, I suggest you size up :) Also, since they're not on the H&M website, the price was $29.95 and they are part of the Divided section. With the $10 coupon it's quite affordable.

I paired it with my faux-fur vest to give the texture some contrast :) The electric yellow vest is actually a sleeveless cardigan that I tucked in. It's long, but I like that it sticks out on the bottom. It reminds me of those jean shorts with the oversized pockets.

Ladylike Tweed and Edgy Leather

A tweed jacket is the epitome of what a proper lady wears. If you guys have ever watched Dharma and Greg, you know what I'm talking about. Kitty Montgomery has these awesome tweed skirt-suits that are soooo 'country club' and 'first lady'. When I wear my tweed jacket, I think of her. Since I'm not quite the lady she is, I wanted to pair it with something more edgy and me- my leather shorts of course! Oh, and not complete without some skulls either!

When I saw this tweed jacket online on H&M, I was skeptical about it fitting me. You know, I have long arms and wide shoulders. Nothing remotely blazer-like at H&M fits me- the sleeves are always 5 inches too short and the shoulders not wide enough to suit my small waist. But I'm so glad I went to the store to try it on because the size 4 fit like a dream! It had ample sleeve length and slight shoulder padding that allowed for roomier shoulders. I was pleased. Though it was $59 Canadian, I had a $10 coupon off $50 (or $20 off $100+) which I thought made it worth it. Go to the end of the post to find the coupon!

Here you go! Just print it out, hand it to the cashier, and you're done like dinner. They apply the coupon by taking $10 or $20 off one item. The good thing is that if your item is less than $50 (like a $20 shirt), buy some other items to make it $50, then ensure they apply the discount to the item you want, and return the rest. They don't take off the discount! So your shirt would be $10 in the end :)

Backless Dresses & the NuBra

I bought a whole bunch of backless / lace-back dresses last month and I have yet to wear them. I've always loved the look of backless dresses because it looks so sexy, but classy at the same time. I've always found the back to be one of the sexiest parts of a woman.

However, I haven't worn these yet because I don't have a bra to wear it with so that it won't show! And you know... as a member of the itty bitty titty committee (hehe) I pretty much have no boobies so finding a bra is a hard thing to do. On top of having small boobies, I have a really small ribcage, so I need a small bandsize as well. For some reason, none of the commercial lingerie companies make a 28 or 30 band size.

But I've been looking around, and many people recommended I try out the NuBra.

I've had silicon sticky bras before, but I've always found them to be really heavy and don't stick well throughout the day. The specific one I was told to get was the Super Padded version (same as featherlite version but more padded), which is 70% lighter than the original silicone version, AND it comes as small of a cup size as AA. Score. It was designed for smaller chested women and juniors (hah!). I've read lots of reviews from small chested ladies and they said that this version has worked very well for them, so took a chance and I bought one off eBay, so hopefully it does what it's supposed to do!

When I receive it in the mail, I will be posting a review, so keep your eyes peeled!

This outfit features my Rebel Yell 'DANGER' tee. This shirt I got from DJ Premium during their CYBER MONDAY sale and I love it to bits. It's the softest material ever... feels like wearing pajamas. I totally want to wear it to sleep.

This Mike & Chris leather jacket has been a long time favourite. I love that it has a hood. The leather is just so buttery soft... I would sleep naked in this too. It's unfortunate that Mike & Chris has since went out of business so their pieces are hard to come by. Your best bet would be eBay, but I included a link above just to show you what the stock picture looks like.

This is going to be my first outfit post of the year, so I thought it would be a great way to show off the McQueen scarf I got from my bf for Christmas :) I love that it's so soft and squishy I just want to wear it all the time!

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is just walk around with your friends without a purpose. After my gift exchange with my friends, we couldn't figure out what to do. So we aimlessly walked around Aberdeen. Not too long after noming at the food court, emi and I decided to be true bloggers and get my bf to take cam-whore outfit pictures of us :)

That day, I'm wearing the waffle sweater I bought on boxing day for about $10. The only sizes left were XS and XL. Normally, I wouldn't even take a second look at the XL sweater... but... the sweater was just SO soft I couldn't stop squishing it against my face. So I pulled it over my head anyways :)
The XS fit me fine, but the XL oversize fit look SO much cuter!! And I can make it off-shoulder too. So though it's like 5 times bigger than I would normally wear, it was still the better choice. Just goes to show how you can't always trust what something looks like until you wear it!

Also, these faux-leather leggings are fleece-lined on the inside! Double score. I really love these- and yes, they're from Wholesale7 for only $6.25! Good quality too. They're great for the winter. The only thing is that the inseam is pretty short, so besides the fact that they look long on the Asian model, I should have known they'd be calf length on me. *Facepalm

Oh well, on me they look like they're supposed to be capri length so I don't really mind.

SERIOUS OM NOMS! If you're ever in Aberdeen, definitely try the Teppanyaki place. It's very reasonably priced ($7.50/plate) and they usually have a 'dish of the day' for $6- with a free drink and miso soup! You can also add things on the side, like an egg as I did here ;) Ahh, so good! And you can add whatever sauce you want to your plate and cook it yourself to perfection ;)

The one pictured here is the 14-spiced chicken teppanyaki. I'd definitely recommend it~

I feel really grateful this year to have such good friends and of course, boyfriend. I would have been fine even if we didn't exchange gifts- their company is just enough! Having a small get together sometimes really is much needed amidst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. At times, I forget to stop and think about how much love I actually have in my life and how thankful I should be for these wonderful people :)

Holiday Outfit with a Red Wool Skirt

You saw a preview of my Christmas Day outfit when I was opening presents in my last post. I based it around this lovely red wool pleat skirt that I dug out of my closet from 7 years ago. It was all wrinkly, and the pleats were out of whack!! but all it needed was a good ironing! I think I'm a super n00b at ironing because I had so much trouble with the pleats. My mum watched me struggle for a good 30 minutes before telling me to shove over and let her do it. Thank goodness for mums!

Love the drapey-ness of the collar

The belt was added to cinch up the waistline so that I didn't look too boxy. Since the main focus piece is the red skirt, I wanted to keep the bottom relatively low-key. A simple pair of black tights and some black pumps will do the trick.

I think this type of pleating is called an inverted pleat or a box pleat

It creates a nice bell shape to the skirt

I also wore some Christmas tree earrings that day to get into the holiday spirit :) They are just shiny enough to be noticeable but not too shiny that they blinded, haha. I also dug these up from my earrings drawer which I haven't touched in years. If I remember correctly these were from Claire's about 6 years ago. From the sounds of this post it looks like I'm really good at hoarding things and never throwing anything away! :P

Old Navy was having a 75% off sweaters. I purchased this white waffle one in an XL (yes, for myself!). It was $40, down to $10, then I had SPC with gave another 10% off, so it was around $10 after tax.

At H&M, I found his a-line skirt. It'll be great for work. It also came with a bow belt (yay!) which justified its $15 price tag. Also at H&M I found this brown equestrian-esque 2-buckle belt for $7. I also had an H&M gift card left to use, so after using that, in total I spent only $2.

H&M and Old Navy purchases - $12

Basically... I spent under $40. Quite an accomplishment :) I'm very happy with what I got and I didn't stress myself out with deals this year. Go me!

Anjolee Princess Cut Amethyst Earrings

You've probably seen in my other postings that I'm a minimal accessorizer. I usually don't wear much jewelry besides my white gold heart bracelet and my diamond necklace, both gifted from my boyfriend. For earrings, sometimes I change them up but most of the time they are easy-to-wear studs. I definitely don't spend much on costume jewelry because I think they're so disposable per trend, so I like to stick with timeless and classy pieces.

That's why I love these amethyst earrings from Anjolee. They are princess cut, which in my opinion, are one of the most flattering ways to show off a gem stone. This cut is so timeless and can be worn for any occasion. Versatility- oh how I love thee.

They're also the perfect size. Not too big - which can look gaudy- and I'm not G (unit) enough for that! Not too small either - so eyes are still drawn towards the gem's sparkle. Finally, they are also white gold (like all my jewelry) so it matches all the other pieces I usually wear.

I wore these last week with my purple vest in my work it look, and I got so many compliments on my earrings at work. I love when outfits and accessories match!

2011 Milestones

Before jumping into the new year, I would like to take some time to reflect on 2011. I have a lot of things I'm thankful for, a lot of things I could change, and a lot to put on my resolutions list. So much has happened this year, so 2011 is definitely a milestone for me.

One of the biggest things that happened in my life was that I graduated from university back in June. After 5 years of hard work, I finally finished my schooling (for now) and entered into society no longer officially a student. It was both scary and exciting at the same time.

When you're in school, the only thing you look forward to is graduating... but when you're actually graduated, at least for me, I really wanted to go back.

You never realize how easy students have it until you are no longer one yourself. Right when I graduated, my bank was auto-changed out of a student account and I had to start paying fees. I was shocked! I've never paid bank fees in my life! That's when I started shopping around for a new bank.

Another thing I took for granted while back in school was how much of a social-shipper it was for me. Going to school kept your friendships in check because you see them more often. When you no longer have school, you really have to make an effort to keep in touch with people you care about, regardless if you have the tools or not. I, for one, had trouble keeping up with people and felt like I dropped off the face of the earth. It was kinda lonely.

Amidst all this, it was my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. He's been a real driving force in my life and has helped me through a lot of things. He even helped me find the job posting of the very job I work at today. Though we may have some rollercoaster moments, I've never been happier and I'm very thankful to have him. See, he's not just a pretty face ;)

The exciting part of graduating was that I finally got to do some travelling on my own. I've never gone outside Canada and the US without my family before, so it was a nice 'first' to do.

My favourite destination from my trip to Europe was Barcelona. It's definitely a great city to see with a lot of history and culture, but it wasn't rot with it like many other European cities. The food was great, much cheaper than Paris, and the weather was awesome. Lots of neat things to do in the city with a welcoming transportation system.

A key thing I learned is that a lot of things can make or break a friendship. Travelling together is one of them. It can either make your friendship stronger, or make your realize how much of a person you CAN'T take. My trip to Europe, was the latter.

Between the Europe trip and starting my new job, I also went to California with my boyfriend. Did you know Disneyland is one of my favouritest places in the world? I've been so many times, but I love it every time. I know it's not for everyone, but it's one of the few places I always feel happy at :)

Santa Monica

After my travelling, I spent a good 3 months job hunting. I've had job experience before, but it was only for co-op or internships. When you get out into the 'real world', you realize how much more competition there is. Everything is a game. I've never been turned down so much in my life! It was a very challenging time those few months... so I'm very thankful for my friends that have shown me love and support during my grey days :) Now, my current workplace is full of wonderful people. It's not often you find somewhere to work where you get along with everyone, but this one is the exception. Great coworkers. I'm thankful for that.

Around that time is when I started my blog! It just seems like yesterday that I've been posting narcicisstic photos of myself and talking about my materialistic nature. But can you believe I've been blogging for 4 months now? Time really flies.

I'd like to take this time to thank all my readers. You've really been supportive over the past couple months in whichever way you can: reading, commenting, subscribing, friending, following, tweeting. I couldn't have done it without you guys. Though I'm still a small fry, I'm grateful for my 30ish subscribers and hope I have more to come in the future.

Mustard and Relish

Both things you'd put on a hot dog, but who knew they'd go so well together as an outfit as well? Silly, I know, but I must have been really hungry or craving hot dogs when I made up this outfit!

I really like ruffle shells because they can really give you the 'boost' you need, if ya'know what I mean- or at least hide the fact that you don't have much like me, lol. This one is from Loft, one of my purchases from their Black Friday sale online. Unfortunately, the shoes I also bought didn't make the cut and are on their way to be returned.

Grunge

After wearing my red scarf over the weekend, I wanted to break out all my colourful scarves. In my scarf box, I discovered this dark teal scarf that coincidentally I also got from a Secret Santa, but last holiday season. I love how just by changing the colour of your scarf, you can go from happy holiday cheer to grungy motorcycle chic.

Some people have been wondering how I tie my scarf so it drapes like in my photos. It's super easy! Just tie together two of the farthest corners of your scarf, and loop it around your neck twice with the knot as the last loop. This way, it gives off a cowl neck shape and also shows off the fringe of your scarf if there is any.

I just realized that in all my photos I'm looking to my left. Oh well, I'll try to change it up tomorrow :)

A More Festive Look: Red Scarf!

Thanks to my Secret Santa, I had a very festive look this weekend! :)

Pretty much all of Saturday was devoted to buying Christmas gifts, yet I still haven't found everything I need to get yet. And then... I ended up getting stuff for myself... so.. ya that was a fail LOL. I have all next week to do it, and good thing for holiday hours too because otherwise I would have no time to do it after work! I feel like I procrastinated so much this year. I remember I was done all my holiday shopping at the end of November last year, but this year I didn't have as much time to do what I wanted. Ah... Life.

I LOVE this scarf. Seriously, the red makes your outfit POP and people can spot you from a mile away. I got so many stares at the mall with this outfit, and I like to think it's because of my scarf and nothing else HAHA.

What heels am I wearing? My new patent Tory Burch ones of course!! I got them just this past Friday during Holt Renfrew's Friends and Family super sale, which was an additional 33% off everything that was already on sale. I had such good luck that these babies were my size! And usually 8's are one of the first to go :)

They're super padded and cushiony. And just a modest 3 inch heel, they're very comfy! Wow I just realized these are my 4th pair of Tory Burch shoes.

And a big thanks to my wonderful bf for taking pics for me ;) There's an in-progress Christmas tree vomiting outside its big box in the usual spot I put my camera, so I couldn't use my usual set up.

Secret Santa Surprise!!

I did 2 online Secret Santa gift exchanges this year, one for my very first forum (Authentic Forum) and one for my blogger ring. I LOVE getting packages in the mail, and it's even better when you don't know what it is or when it's coming.

I've been having a long and busy week at work, so when I got home I was SO pooped out. But to my surprise, one of my SS gifts arrived on Thursday and totally made my day! I couldn't wait to open it. Then I couldn't find my xacto knife T___T. Ya it was just not my week! Well, I made due with some safety scissors and finally got it open, and here's what I got :)

Equestrian-esque

I hadn't taken the dav rain boots I got from my DJP haul out for a spin yet, so I was so overjoyed when I found out it was going to rain today! That's probably the only time you'll ever hear me say that!! Rain is such depressing weather... coupled with the grey clouds, dark gloomy atmosphere and for me.... getting whacked in the face by unskilled, umbrella-wielding commuters. But nonetheless, I was excited to try out my new boots!

I love these rain boots for 4 reasons:
1) They're fleece-lined! Keeps your feet nice and warm so you don't have to buy boots socks for rain boots like Hunters
2) They have removable insoles- Because I have flat feet, I need to put my custom orthotic insoles in most flat shoes, so this is a +++1 for me
3) They aren't your traditional rain boot! The equestrian look and horse-bit detailing add an extra oomph to your boot and makes your rain boot look sleek and slim... not like a traditional clunky rain boot at all!
4) They were only $34 after the 60% off from DJP! Can't beat a deal like that :)

See how slim they look from the side? If I didn't tell you, you wouldn't think it was a rain boot at all.

On top, I wanted to keep with the equestrian theme. I always thought horse-back riders look so proper and elegant so I tried to match that ambience by donning a blouse and vest combo. And the outfit wouldn't be complete with a belt ;)

A male coworker actually commented on my outfit today.

Him: "WOW, you are *hourglass hand motion*, what's that called?"
Me: Slim waisted?
Him: Nonono... hourglass?
Me: Really?
Him: YAH! I thought that shape was just a myth!
Me: ??? Haha, okay thanks~

Work It

How awkward are company photos? Today, I had to dress more 'professional' because the photographer came in to take individual photos of each employee for our corporate database. Even though the photoshoot was from the chest up, it would have been weird to 'work it' on top but not on the bottom. Thus, I 'worked' my entire outfit.

This year, my workplace implemented a new mandate where every employee must have a corporate photo attached to their corporate employee profile. It's supposed to increase transparency and 'chumminess' between fellow co-workers... but to most of us, it's a giant face that pops up on our computer screen every time we receive an email, chat, calendar invite, or anything related to that person.

To top it off, everyone's picture is a full-frontal-in-your-face shot and cropped to about 3/4 of your face so that everyone is missing a forehead or ear or what not. I'm not sure why they did it that way, the photo on your left is an example of what it looks like.

Fingers crossed hoping it's not as bad as that. Or else it's going to be on every. single. email. I. send. Wahhhh~

Red, White and... Blue?

Red, white and blue go so well together. It's too bad that it always reminds me of national flags though... But oh well! My coworker said I looked really British today- probably because of the Union Jack. Funny because I thought I looked very fourth of July, haha.

I got this new equestrian-esque riding belt on PLNDR. It was only 5 bucks! The only thing is that it's a little bit too big :( I already put it on the closest belt holes on both sides, but it's still too big. I don't know if I can alter it to make it any smaller. I had to wear a cardi on top and belt on top of it. One because it was too cold without the cardi, and two, to make the belt fit better.

This blue skirt by Motel is a recent bold colour favourite. For only $10 from my DJPremium haul, it was SUCH a steal. Lucky for you, it's still available for $26.50 on DJP right now, and considering the original price is $70, for the current price it's still a good buy!

I think I might replace the big circle ring with a smaller circle ring since I can detach it from both sides of the belt. It might make the belt fit better. See how the circle ring kinda dips down at the front? That's cuz it's too big. Not really a big deal, but I still wish it was a bit smaller.

OM NOMS: Prestons Over The Weekend

Hope everyone had a good weekend :)

Mine was extra special because I had an anni with the bf~ To celebrate, we went to a modern + Asian fusion restaurant Downtown called Prestons, situated inside the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel.
It's funny because I work literally a block away from the restaurant but I never knew it was there!

Prestons had a very cool, romantic ambience inside and the hostess was very friendly when she showed us to our table. Our menu was super interesting too! It was made out of some kind of cork material? At least that's what it felt like. And I don't know about you, but I really like feeling the way something feels. Touchy feely kinda person, haha.

Appies: Prawn Gyoza & Seared Scallops (for him) and Prestons Poutine (for me). Both were yum! I had the biggest poutine craving since the last 2 times I tried to get poutine the shops were just closing. So that was an easy choice ;) Safe to say both were devoured pretty quickly.

Mains: BC Halibut Wrapped in Bacon (for him) and Grilled Lamb (for me). These were a hit as well! The halibut was nice a juicy, and you can't go wrong with bacon. The bf didn't leave any thing on his plate (except the carrot, but we both don't like cooked carrots!) so it's safe to assume he liked it! The lamb, which I ordered rare-ish, came rare-ish, which is RARE lol. Often times restaurants overcook your meat, so I was glad they made it how I wanted it. The lamb was very tender and I enjoyed it very much.

More Suspender Love

Suspenders are one of my favouritest accessories. So easy to wear. So many ways to wear. I dug out my grey suede Dolce Vita boots that I totally forgot about (how can I forget? They're in my About Me picture!) and totally fell in love with them again. The J brands you guys have / seen / enough / of / lol.

Suspenders nowadays are hardly to hold your pants up. We have belts for that. Now it's merely an accessory piece and makes your ensemble look so much more appealing. That being said, I clipped on my suspenders on the same side, going diagonally across my back so the front and back are clipped in different spots. Not exactly functional, but super cute! :)

You can't tell but I'm wiggling my toes. Haha~

One thing about suede boots is that they give off this great slouchy look because they're so soft. Slouchy isn't for everyone, but it's one of the things I like about this boot. Compared to my Vince Camuto boots, which are actually the same shaft height when pulled up, these ones never stay up because the leather isn't as stiff. But I like it like that.

Stay Gold, Vonnie, Stay Gold: Rebecca Minkoff Quilted Swing in Pale Gold

First things first! What do you think of parting hair in the middle? I decided to try it out yesterday and I'm not sure I like it. But you can see it all in this post and let me know what you think. Personally I think it makes me look more intense and not as cheerful, lol.

Some additional things I got through November but not on black-friday-slash-cyber-monday: The BB Dakota batwing blouse is a nice coffee/taupe colour and feels very soft to the touch. I like how the back is longer than the front. The Vince Camuto boots I discussed in THIS post won over all the other boots, and now I have a great new pair of brown boots to add to my closet staples. The pale gold bag is Rebecca Minkoff, called the Quilted Swing. Love love love (I want your love). The leather is soft and supple and there are lots of compartments inside the bag.

Hmm, can't decide on the hair. Reminds me of The Haute Pursuit.

Ya'll know I love assymetrical hem tops.

The bag!!! I love how different the quilting is. Usually, quilting is square or ilongated diamond shapes, but this one is unique in that it's CIRCULAR. This bag is also a more hip cross between Balenciaga and Chanel. It has all the tassely bits from Balenciaga and the quilting of Chanel. Great~ because I love both :)

More Fur, More Owls, More Boots

I'm wearing the life out of this fur vest. You've already seen it a kajillion times here, here and here, but honestly, it's one of the easiest things to wear that goes with virtually any outfit. Totally worth the buy. As for owls, I've been collecting owl jewelery for a while and have an array of owl necklaces, rings and earrings. They're just so cute!

These boots were from my black friday purchase at Aldo. Do you think I should keep them? They're pretty comfortable despite the height, and make my feet look smaller (I like that). I'm liking the fact that they're actually KNEE-high boots! The shaft actually goes to my knee unlike all my other boots. I'm tempted to keep them but I promised myself I'd only keep one pair of boots from the sale... and the others haven't come yet. So!

Inside, I just have a simple black sweater. It's getting pilly. I should really take care of that. But I still wear it regardless. I'm lazy.

Ahh, that's right! You guys haven't seen these Habitual jeans yet. They're actually one of the pairs that weren't in my denim collection post. They were missing at the time, but I have since found them. They are one of my favourites out of all my jeans because they are a very simple, dark indigo straight leg and makes my bum look guuuud. Not sure why my behind looks so gigantic in this picture though :(

Fur Stole, Pleated Skirt and Oxford Booties

I've been on a fur kick this season! I'm so glad that it's back in style :) I got this fur stole at a steal (haha!) during Hautelook's Buy $50 get $25 off promo. This on hautelook was $36, and together with a shirt for the boyfriend, it came to around $50. With the promo, the total was $25 altogether for both items. Very happy about that. I really wanted to pair this fur stole with something girly, but not too fancy- usually when I think of stoles, I think of glamourous parties and charity balls. I opted for one of my favs: an H&M pleated skirt.

On my feet are my newest additions- genuine leather oxford booties from Aldo that I bought during their black friday sale. These took forever to arrive! But totally worth it. I had tried them on in store before buying them online so I knew they'd be a perfect fit~ The shape of the shoe definitely remind me of my Louboutin Inverness booties you can see in this post. The leg opening and arch are very similar.

Removing my stole, you can see underneath I have a black button-down. Another aquisition from Wholesale7 (yes, I know- it was a big haul). However...

You can see that sometimes, buying from Asian sites can be difficult for me because of the arm length. This was supposed to be a long-sleeve shirt, but on me it's 3/4. It's not so bad because it's short enough to be 3/4, so it's not an awkward length :D I lucked out on this one.

Better look at the white bow belt. It's actually too big and I need to punch some additional holes in it.

Polkadots, Bows, and Lace

Hope everyone had a joyful weekend~

I had a weekend full of cheer (company holiday party), song (karaoke) and tears (Korean drama). Being up and about this whole weekend searching for gifts and holiday necessities didn't leave much time to brog. Weekends nowadays cannot be wasted now that I'm working fulltime; there's simply nothing I can do after I get off from work when the shops are closed and it's pitch black outside. I can't wait for holiday hours. But I still need to be more productive over the weekends and make the most of them.

Another blouse from the myriad of shirts I received from Wholesale7 during my last haul, and you can add this one to the list. With a Peter Pan collar that is so IN this holiday season, paired with a makeshift bow, this blouse screams estrogen- all I'm missing are the pleats and curls.

These lace shorts are really beautiful up close. I love the detail and fit of these shorts.

My bal. She's an oldie but a goodie. From Fall of 2008, she's already past her 3rd birthday but the leather is as soft as ever. Inside, she holds a matching black compagnon wallet that has been my favourite since I received it as a gift from my boyfriend last Christmas. I hope that I can get a bigger Bal in the future. I think the City looks too small on me. I'd opt for a Velo next.

You knew this post was coming. How can it not be when one of the biggest shopping days of year just past?
Oooh man. So many deals too be had this year, specifically DJ Premium, Ann Taylor / Loft, Endless, and Aldo.

Before I get into the haul, I found these funny shoes during my online shopping frenzy. Don't they totally remind you of Rudolph the Red Nosed raindeer? Just throw on some antlers and you're good to go! LOL~

Anyways, let's take a look at the damage:

DJ Premium: Total of $298

Can you believe DJP had 60% off in their Cyber Monday section? It was insane! I got about 12 things for just under $30. I got some things for myself (Motel skirts, Insight bathing suit, Rebel Yell tee, LAROK vest, dav boot), my sister (Converse chucks), my friend (Kid Robot tee), my boyfriend (William Rast jeans), my brother (Adidas shoe), and Sheila (Kelsi Daggar sandal). The dav equestrian rain boot I actually purchased through Endless by price matching DJP (+ cashback through coupon cactus!), because DJP didn't have my size.

Ann Taylor Loft: Total of $51

Loft had 50% off everything :) I only got 2 things, nude patent leather flats with tassels (super love) and a ruffle shell for work.

Endless: Total $159 + $13.52 (Tax) - $20.67 (Cashback) = $151.85

Each day Endless has a batch of new deals. I was stoked when I saw this Rebecca Minkoff Quilted Swing bag on sale down from $395! It's the perfect pale gold colour, and looks like it will be a great addition to contrast all my black bags. Plus, it comes with removable tassels (YAY, more tassels). +1 in my books. and heart. <3

Aldo Shoes: Total of $265 (or less, more like $125 after returns)

They had an additional 30% off eveything promo for Black Friday weekend, and I went to the store only to try things on. Despite the pushy sales lady trying to tell me to buy it now, I knew that they had better deals on Aldo's online shop because of coupon codes. I was right ;) GETLUCKY75985 got me an extra 15% off. Below are my purchases. I plan to keep only pair of boots, one pair of shoes and return the rest. Gotta love their return policy.

So in total, the Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend costed me a whooping $625.85 after returns. I think that's a pretty good haul considering the amount of items I got: an average of $31 per item with my RM bag included, and an average of $25 per item without. To top it off, I killed 2 birds with one stone by getting presents for my brother, sister and friend within the process all in one go :D

TLDR: This BF/CM weekend was great for me because there were lots of good promotions, I found gifts for myself and loved ones, and considering the things I got, didn't spend a lot of money.

Menswear Inspired: Suspenders and Trousers

I love suspenders. They're both awesomely functional and awesomely assesorizing. They definitely jazz up an outfit, and can be worn a variety of ways. This time, I wanted to wear them the traditional way- holding up my trousers. These trousers are actually the pants that go with my grey blazer (that ya'll have seen here, here, here and here) to complete the suit (SUIT UP!).

Unfortunately, the smallest size that they had in the pants were a size 3. Yet, I didn't want to leave without the full suit, so I sucked it up (princess) and got them. They're actually not so big originally, and my mum altered them at the waist and hips a bit more for me. Still a smidgen too big, but it works. And they're wonderfully long. Gotta be grateful of that :D I've worn these to death over the past couple years for work and interships, and despite that they have not looked like they've aged at all.

On top, I wanted to feminize it a bit but still have the traditional buttoned down shirt look. So I opted for my Dolce Vita cropped blouse and wore a basic black longsleeve underneath.

You can see how wide the actual pant legs are. Much wider than anything I usually wear. Almost too wide. But the key word is almost. ;) I thought of altering them again, this rime at the thighs, but I dont want to risk losing the pant on the operating table. It's already been under the knife so much!

The suspenders cross at the back. I didn't notice the lengths were out of sync until after I took the picture. Oh well, I kinda like that it's off. Cuz I'm hip like that. LOL. I'm sure the off-centered-ness bothers some people though ;)

2 Fauxes Make a Right: Silk-esque Blouse and Leather-esque Shorts

I've been looking for leather shorts for the longest time, and I'm SO glad I got these t.cec ones from TOBI a couple weeks ago. Though they are only faux-leather, they are the softest things my hands have ever had the luxury of touching. Ya feel me? I know you want to. On top of that, this teal Ellison blouse, is as light weight and as soft as silk. Like touching a baby's bottom. Ya, smoooooth.

I simply adore this blouse. It just feels so.. feminine. I love that it is super long as well, which is great of long-limbed ladies like me. The sleeves are supposed to be 3/4-length (perfect!) and have an inner tab that buttons up the sleeve so keep it at a 1/2-length if you want. I liked the 3/4 look so left the tabs undone.

Another thing I enjoy about this blouse is the slit on the side. It's at the perfect place so that I can tuck from front of the blouse into my shorts, but leave the back hanging out. I love that! Sometimes if a shirt doesn't have that slit, and you want to tuck in the front but not the back, it leaves this awkward triangle shape and makes people focus onto your nether region. Not pretty.

The leather shorts I meantioned are buttery soft. Makes me want to rub myself the entire day. But that's too weird... so instead, I walked with my hands in my pockets the whole day. The inside is the same buttery softness as the outside. Awkwardness averted ;) There are also pockets on the back, which is great so you don't have to wear a thong ;) I hate panty lines lol.

Look from the back. I tried to remember the pose Michael Jackson (RIP) had on the "This Is It!" cover. This is how it turned out. With me trying to snap my fingers. Now, seeing the cover again, the pose looks nothing like this. Fail, lol.

Boyfriend Shirts and Wing Tip Cuffs

I haven't worn a boyfriend oxford shirt like this in a long time. I used to live in it, but I just don't think I look that good in it any more. I wore this today to try and revive my love for it. And I have not one but TWO of the same boyfriend shirts but in different colours, so clearly I thought they were the shit. But I don't know any more... You be the judge!

Poppin' collars like a bauss

Of course, I make sure to wear shorts under my shirt so as to not fall into the fashion faux-pas of wearing leggings as pants. Though it does cover my bum, it's not knee-length like it would be on girls 8 inches shorter than me. One of the disadvantages of being tall... shirts are always too short, lol.

Here, I rolled my sleeves so that the cuff pokes out like a wing tip. Isn't it cute? I've only seen people roll up their sleeves the usual plain-jane way, fold on top of fold. But for cool people, folding one long fold to wear you want your sleeve to sit, then rolling the already folded over area can make it look so much more interesting and sophisticated. I think rolling up the sleeves is the part I like the most about wearing structured shirts!

A lot of times, it's hard to find structured shirts that fit me. I'm not average-shaped, as you can tell. People look at me and say "well of course you're an XS!" but that's so not the case for structured shirts! Wide shoulders totally cancel me out of the XS zone. My shoulder width is more suitable for a Medium size. My arms? Same thing! A long-sleeve XS shirt will turn into a 3/4 sleeve-length shirt on me! "Well, what if I upsize", you say? Then it will be way too baggy around my torso!
Alas, structured shirts are a huge feat for me.

So what do you think? Are boyfriend shirts a hit or miss on me?

Primary Colours

Look Ma, I'mma crayon!

I don't know about you, but when I think about Red, Yellow and Blue, it always reminds me of crayons. Friday, being casual at work, I decided to wear two of the three primary colours to brighten up the dreary weather. Of course, work is pretty casual already, so I'm not sure how much more casual I can get without wearing sweatpants, lol.

On the inside, I mainly wanted to keep my colours to a minimum so that my yellow cardi and blue J brands will be the focus points of my outfit. That's why I wore grey and white, which are easy on the eyes. The striped crop top would have been too cold by itself, so wearing it with a tank underneath was an easy choice.

The grey/white snood was a recent purchase at American Eagle, when they had the 40% off entire store sale. I felt it would be a good addition to the outfit, going with the grey/white theme and shielding me from crazy winds.

Snug as a bug in a rug

You guys may have noticed that I've been wearing J brands a lot (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). I can't help it! They are one of the few brands that fit well both in length (!!) and width (!). They always keep me going back for moar!

Crochet Skirt & Tucked In Cardigan

I lost my plain black tights a while back and hadn't gotten around to buying a new pair until now :) After I lost them I had to keep wearing my leopard tights or suspender tights, but I didn't think it was subtle enough for work. Then, Winners was having a sale on a 3-pack of Anna Sui tights (1 decorative, 2 plain black) for $15, so I quickly snatched them up.

At first, I didn't think tights would work with this crochet skirt I bought on my adventures in Barcelona, but when I tried them on together I realized the skirt was meant for more than just spring and summer wear. This skirt was originally too big at the waist, even at as an XS, so my mother dearest altered it for me :) Now it fits perfectly!

To show off the crochet detailing of the skirt even more, I tucked in my cardi instead of leaving it out. This burgandy cardigan has quickly made my fall/winter favourites list (seen here and here), but somehow it always reminds me of my high school uniform.

If you've ever been to private school and worn a uniform, you know what I mean when I say the colour stays with you forever. Every time you see that colour you think right back to your uniform. My school had maroon sweaters which we had to wear everyday, until grade 12, where we switched to a white open cardigan with maroon trim instead. Maybe I should use it for an outfit photo...

Oddly enough, we had navy knee high socks the same colour as my crochet skirt. I didn't even realize how closely my outfit today resembles my high school uniform colours until now o____0.

But... the skirt is so pretty! The detailing is so nice :)

I would love a Chanel WOC in Caviar this Christmas. I've been a good girl.

I know you're thinking, "But you're a big purse type of gal! You love gigantic purses that can carry every item that you own!" Yes, I do love large handbags... but you don't understand. This is the purse that's going to revolutionize my purse needs. I'm going to minimize my needs on foot and live with just my phone, keys, a wallet and some lipbalm. With this purse, I'll learn to live without my portable measuring tape and safety scissors. This purse is going to help me get rid of the disease that rots my purse with extra bandaids, blister block, usb cords, flash drives and headphones. This, Santa, is the purse!
