2 Fauxes Make a Right: Silk-esque Blouse and Leather-esque Shorts

I've been looking for leather shorts for the longest time, and I'm SO glad I got these t.cec ones from TOBI a couple weeks ago. Though they are only faux-leather, they are the softest things my hands have ever had the luxury of touching. Ya feel me? I know you want to. On top of that, this teal Ellison blouse, is as light weight and as soft as silk. Like touching a baby's bottom. Ya, smoooooth.

I hope you liked my play on words, my Canadian french/english bilingual friends ;) I thought it was pretty punny :D

Boyfriend Shirts and Wing Tip Cuffs

I haven't worn a boyfriend oxford shirt like this in a long time. I used to live in it, but I just don't think I look that good in it any more. I wore this today to try and revive my love for it. And I have not one but TWO of the same boyfriend shirts but in different colours, so clearly I thought they were the shit. But I don't know any more... You be the judge!

Obligatory bloglovin' post

Aha, so another blogger has been reeled onto Bloglovin!
If you have a chance, follow my blog :)
Of course... you don't have to...
But I'll be a happy kitty if you do!

Primary Colours

Look Ma, I'mma crayon!

I don't know about you, but when I think about Red, Yellow and Blue, it always reminds me of crayons. Friday, being casual at work, I decided to wear two of the three primary colours to brighten up the dreary weather. Of course, work is pretty casual already, so I'm not sure how much more casual I can get without wearing sweatpants, lol.

Crochet Skirt & Tucked In Cardigan

I lost my plain black tights a while back and hadn't gotten around to buying a new pair until now :) After I lost them I had to keep wearing my leopard tights or suspender tights, but I didn't think it was subtle enough for work. Then, Winners was having a sale on a 3-pack of Anna Sui tights (1 decorative, 2 plain black) for $15, so I quickly snatched them up.

At first, I didn't think tights would work with this crochet skirt I bought on my adventures in Barcelona, but when I tried them on together I realized the skirt was meant for more than just spring and summer wear. This skirt was originally too big at the waist, even at as an XS, so my mother dearest altered it for me :) Now it fits perfectly!

To show off the crochet detailing of the skirt even more, I tucked in my cardi instead of leaving it out. This burgandy cardigan has quickly made my fall/winter favourites list (seen here and here), but somehow it always reminds me of my high school uniform.

Wishlist Item #2: Chanel Wallet On Chain (Caviar)

Dear Santa,

I would love a Chanel WOC in Caviar this Christmas. I've been a good girl.

I know you're thinking, "But you're a big purse type of gal! You love gigantic purses that can carry every item that you own!" Yes, I do love large handbags... but you don't understand. This is the purse that's going to revolutionize my purse needs. I'm going to minimize my needs on foot and live with just my phone, keys, a wallet and some lipbalm. With this purse, I'll learn to live without my portable measuring tape and safety scissors. This purse is going to help me get rid of the disease that rots my purse with extra bandaids, blister block, usb cords, flash drives and headphones. This, Santa, is the purse!

I've thought about it a long time. This purse, is actually 4 purses in one.

New Purchases! Tweed, Lace, Leather & a Blouse

Okay, I splurged. But only because Tobi was having a 30% off site-wide sale. Usually I would match with Revolve since their shipping is free, have wider selection and better customer service, but this time around Tobi's exclusive new arrivals were TOO cute to resist. Nonetheless, I bought 4 things that I hope will become new staples in my wardrobe.

Olivaceous Weave In & Out Jacket ($115 down to $80) and Ellison Sleek & Chic Blouse in Teal ($40 down to $28)
I've been lusting for a chanel-esque collarless tweed jacket for a while now, and I couldn't find one that really suited my style. Many were in cutesy colours like baby pink and pale blue, but I feel this black/grey/white one is easier to match and much more me. It features snap buttons and a zipper, but I don't see myself ever using it. I do like that it adds interest into the jacket. After 30% off this piece came to around $80.

Wishlist Item #1: Sleek Brown Boots

On my wishlist (for myself) this year is a good pair of brown boots: Particularly for two reasons: Brown can really take the dreariness out of many dark outfits, and I have 4 pairs of black boots, a pair of white boots, and even grey boots, but BROWN is the one staple colour I never really ventured at (except for my ugg boots).

Thus, for the past week, I've been trying to find a pair of simple brown boots with these criteria.

A Chiffon Tunic & MAGIC Sateen Leggings

Oh my oh my oh my. That's what I thought when I touched these pants. I was rendered speechless. What material is this? Why does it feel this way? "TOUCH THIS!!!" I demanded of my friends. They do not look AT ALL like how they would feel.

They're smooth, silky, almost suede-y, but not really. A touch of velvet, but feels almost like tarp or tyvek. See? The descriptions aren't getting much better. They're just MAGICAL. Yes, magical. I'll leave it at that. Feel free to touch me when I'm wearing them and prepare to be amazed.

Minimalistic... but more ruffles!

I dunno what it is, but I've been on a ruffles kick! Half of my haul from Wholesale7 was entirely made up of ruffley chiffon blouses. This one is a nice dark teal blue, has a higher collar that reminds me of traditional chinese dresses, and an asymmetrical ruffle that attaches across the collar with a button loop. Usually I don't enjoy wearing high-collared tops because I think I have a proportionally short neck compared to the rest of my body, and the high collar totally makes what neck I have disappear.

Velvet, Ruffles & Fur

This outfit was worn on a whim. I didn't know what to wear this morning, so I looked on my floor and found my new purple velvet J brands tucked away, still in the bag that I left the store with. Armed with my must-wear purple skinny pants, I felt like I needed a top that was a contrasting material. Cotton just wouldn't cut it ;) Then it clicked - I had just the thing! This shiny white chiffon ruffle blouse I got in my last shipment from Wholesale7. To complete the look, I put on my trusty fur vest and belted it :)

Chambray Jumper Pants & the Multifaceted Scarf

After finding these chambray jumper pants at the AA sample sale, I couldn't wait to wear them out! They are so wonderfully comfy, it's like wearing pajamas all day! I paired it with this incredibly versatile thick knit scarf from Wholesale7, which is unique in that the ends are tube shaped. I'll show you what I mean with pictures of all the different styles I wore it

Colored Skinnies to Brighten up Grey Weather

From the J brand sample sale mentioned in this post, I broke out my new J brands to wear on Saturday. I couldn't be happier with them. The fit, material, and quality is just as great as all the other J brands that I have, and I'm glad to have 3 more to add to my J brand collection.

A Busy Blogger Weekend :)

How was everyone's long weekend? Mine was AWESOME. It was jam-packed full of sample sales, new purchases, pampering and eating. Usually I don't make good use of time off because I get utterly lazy and sleep in until the late afternoon, but this weekend, I was determined to wake up early and check some to-dos off my list.

With Emi, my partner in crime. TWINS!

J Brand sample sale// I got to go to this through a private invitation courtesy of Emi, where we got to pick out as many pairs of J Brands as we wanted before the general public got a taste of heaven. I was literally swimming in J Brands in the change room because I hogged so many pairs. Eventually I narrowed it down to 2 (and bought a 3rd the next day), one of which is featured in the outfit today :) Because we knew the organizer, our items were given to us for an even bigger discount. <3 connections!

Tweed Vest & Long Gloves

"Why wear a vest? Don't your arms get cold?" Of course they do, but wearing a sweater underneath and long gloves keep me nice and toasty. Work is no longer as cold because I moved desks! This way I won't have to bundle up as much, and a sweater + vest was just the right temperature.

I recently had a huge haul off the wholesale website, Wholesale7. It's based in China, and features Chinese and Korean fashion for cheap prices. Though sometimes their items are hit or miss, and you really have to ask questions and scrutinize each item, I think at the end it's worth it. Especially so, because a lot of the styles on the website would be hard to find in Vancouver, if not for a gigantic marked up price. I'll be doing a large post on the items that I got last week in a later blog post, but here is a preview of the vest I received.

New Mix of Old Outfits

I'm the type of person where if I like a piece of clothing, I like the wear the heck out of it. Wednesday's outfit was a mixture of a lot the clothing pieces that I frequently wear. I think all of them have been in previous outfit photos. Sometimes an old item can be just as good as a new one, depending on how you wear it.

Remember the bow blouse from here and here? Guess whose wearing it again ;) This time, I'm wearing a sweater over it since alone, it would have been too cold. Plus, the bow looks super cute popping out of the v-neck like that.

Bundling Up with a Drapey Sweater Cardigan

On Monday, I learned my lesson. Work has freezing temperatures, and one medium-thick layer sweater was NOT enough. I sit a foot away from a single pane window the size of a cinema big screen, 8 floors up, and I swear the heat is pms-ing because it refuses to heat my side of the office.

So Tuesday, I was prepared. I wore double the amount of clothing I had on Monday, to show the cold air whose BAUS.

Boring? NOT! Tory Burch Snakeprint Pumps!

I just started my new job this week, so look out for moar outfit photos in the future. Now I actually have a daily excuse to dress nice ;) Not that my job really requires it, haha.

This past weekend was the yearly Holt Renfrew gift card promotion- You recieve 25% of your purchase back on a gift card which you can use from the 7th until the end of November. I went shopping with a dear friend who let me use a portion of her gift card from this weekend purchase :D Nice friend ya? <3

I came home with these Tory Burch bad boys on Monday. They were on sale. The nice SA at HR (how RARE) let me put them on hold until Monday so I can use my friend's GC to pay for a portion of them. Too bad he wasn't there on Monday when I bought them- I really wanted to thank him!

A stunning pair of shoes like these can really take a boring outfit and change it into a fantastic outfit~

Take my boring Monday work attire as an example.

Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 Day 5

On Saturday I spent another day at Vancouver Fashion Week and holy geez was it worth it! Some of the shows were just SPECTACULAR and it was an experience that I definitely want again. I would love to thank VFW's producer, Jamal Abdourahman, for his kindness and this wonderful opportunity :)

There were so many designers showcased for Day 5:

Jardin By Bharbara Renault
Misu A Barbe by Misu Kim
Belinda Liu
Hachung Lee
Jose Jhan
Rajadano
Maria Peligro
Claire O'Connor
Sadaf
Jung Eun Lee
Rimi Nayak

A long lineup right? The majority of photos in this post will be of my favourites. Hachung Lee, Sadaf, and Jung Eun Lee really wowed me with their shows. Hachung Lee; with his Korean inspired designs, Sadaf Tahvildarzadeh; with her beautifully exotic Iranian dresses, and Jung Eun Lee; with her crazy after-hours outfits.

First up was Lauren Elaine's swimwear. Nice designs but nothing really stood out to me.

Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 Day 4

Warning, this post is pic heavy!

The shows at Vancouver Fashion Week were even better the second time around! Technically today was Day 4, but I didn't have time to go to Thursday's show.
The crowd was so much larger than Wednesday and there were a lot more decorations put up. Even the catwalk wall was smothered in colourful paint strokes that I heard Pamela Masik did herself. It was a welcomed change compared to the plain white wall that was there before.

I'll spare you the details (you can read more in my other VFW post) and go right on into the show.

Today's featured designers were:
[click to go to available pictures of each; my favourites in bold]

Temna Fialka
mortar & pestle apparel
Angeleye
Di Designs
D.W
Shilmel Zagvar Fashion Center
Farida Lalji
Karlinha Jewelry
Eva Chen
The True’s Fashion

It was supposed to start at 5pm and end at 9:45pm, but like last time, the shows were late again. I arrived at 6pm just in time for the 2nd show, mortar & pestle apparel.

mortar & pestle featured a lot of emerald green, teal, yellow, and purple in their collection and they all complimented each other very well. The designs were actually very wearable and I liked most of them. I couldn't get a good picture since we were in the middle of the bleachers when we first got there so these are all I got.

Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 Day 2

As mentioned in my last blog post, here I am with a recap of Day 2.

For a person that has never been to fashion week before, this experience was pretty cool. We got to meet the manager, who took us backstage where there were lots of yummy topless male models and rows and rows of cosmetic stations. We also go to go into the VIP section, but since we are pretty much NOBODIES and had no idea who THOSE VIP were, we did a quick walkthrough and left. It WAS however pretty cool to get past the big huge bouncer into the VIP section without a problem, lol.

6 designers were showcased today:

Joseph Ribkoff
Papillon
Mermaid Moon
Kings & Paupers
Musa Shah
Valerio Moda

We arrive a bit late at 6:30 but made it in time to see the Joseph Ribkoff show. The designer only showcased 6-7 pieces from his collection. Didn't get a chance to take a picture of this show because we were still settling in.

Between each show there was a 15 min. intermission, but most of the catwalks were a bit behind schedule.

A More Colourful Week for Vancouver in Fashion

Guess what! My friend Emi from EmicablyYours scored awesome 5 day passes to Vancouver Fashion Week and I got to tag along ;) After the opening ceremony yesterday, today was the start of the catwalks, so keep your eyes peeled for my recap and photos in my next blog post!

In the meantime, here's what I wore to the event~
I decided to brighten up the cloudy, rainy night with some colour! The pink was just bright enough, and the purple acted more like a grey so it didn't over saturate the look. Not bad for a last minute outfit right?

The Dreaded Balenciaga Price Increase is Here

I've always been a big fan of Balenciaga. It's smoooshy leather is to die for~
Though I only have a modest collection of 2 staple items: Black RH City 2008 & Black RH Compagnon 2010
I definitely want to add to my collection something with Giant Hardware, and a clutch like the Envelope.

However, there has been a price increase buzz for the last couple of months.

As of today, November 1, 2011, the prices for Balenciaga bags have increased between $50-$150, depending on the style. Though the prices on the official Balenciaga site does not reflect the price increase JUST YET, Barneys.com is already showing the increased prices.

Here's a list of some of the bags that were affected that I could see on the Barney's Website. This is by no means an official list, just what I have observed. US currency.

No-way-vember Already!? Mustaches and Christmas

Time flies by doesn't it?

All this talk about 'movember' and mustache growing, not to mention the sudden fad over mustaches on EVERYTHING nowadays for no apparent reason. I don't know what it is with this hype.. maybe another hipster thing? But it's taken over like Skynet and the cybernetic organisms will take over the world in 2027. Yeah... I've been watching a lot of SyFy, don't hate.
